History

In 1923, a small group of men and women, compelled by a biblical conviction, gave birth to First Baptist Church (FBC). FBC came to life at an organizational meeting held at the First Methodist Church, Port St. Joe. As the church grew, property was purchased, and in 1959, the existing sanctuary and educational space was constructed. Over the years, FBC has given birth to four mission churches. All have since become independent Southern Baptist churches.

The history of First Baptist Church is actually His-story, and it continues. The church has grown from 12 members in 1923 to over 700 members now. The vision is still the same, as it always has been, to glorify God by seeking to make all people disciples of Jesus Christ.

There’s room for all. Others will come to know Jesus as Lord and become a part of the Family of God, and a part of His-story at First Baptist Church.
