Boyd Evans became Pastor at First Baptist in March, 2015. He and his wife, Jenny, grew up in southwest Georgia (Boyd from Colquitt/Miller County, Jenny from Donalsonville/Seminole County), were married in 1992, and have three young adult children. They have served in various churches in Valdosta, Athens, and McDonough, Georgia and in Parker and Windsor (Ft.Collins/Greeley), Colorado. Boyd has a Math Education degree from Valdosta State University, and Ministry degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and Gateway Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min.). He has served as a Minister of Music and Youth for 10 years before becoming a teaching/preaching Pastor in 2001. Boyd enjoys using his gifts, creativity, and training to preach and teach God’s Word, help people understand and grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, energize and equip the local church to be relevant and effective, and encourage everyone to laugh and enjoy God’s goodness. In his “normal life,” he enjoys being with his family, road-tripping, watching and attending sporting events, and epic/superhero/sci-fi TV and movies (But his favorite show of all time is The Andy Griffith Show). He also has some fishing tackle and golf clubs, and attempts to use them on occasion. Boyd is a “fanboy” of the Apostle Paul, and his favorite book of the Bible is the book of Psalms.
