Become a Member

At First Baptist, we believe church membership is still important.
For one, it’s Biblical. Normal practice in the New Testament was for believers to be a part of a local church, and much of the New Testament was written, first of all, to specific local churches. Besides, the local church is the local expression of Jesus’ larger body, and Jesus is committed to His church.

Second, church membership identifies our spiritual family. It defines which people are committed to their brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as the overall mission, ministry, and well-being of the local church.

Third, church membership produces growth. For one, commitment is others-focused and builds character. Also, the New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth, and you cannot be accountable when you’re not committed to any specific church family.

To be eligible for membership at First Baptist:

  1. Meet with or attend a “First Steps” Membership Informational event with Pastor Boyd or church staff;
  2. Confirm that you have a committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ;
  3. Be baptized by immersion, or have been baptized by immersion in a    church of like faith.
  4. Be affirmed by the church family.
